The purpose of a floor drain is to collect water from atop the floor so it does not accumulate in your basement. It is generally installed at the low point of the floor. If you find water is coming up from the drain, we recommend contacting a licensed plumber to investigate the problem further, as it is generally not a basement waterproofing related problem.
