A couple of weeks ago, Shawn Finnicum came out to Skokie for an estimate. I rent a home to a family who had been experiencing leaking in their basement. The timing and the causes were hard to track because it was rental property and I had only purchased it several months before. Before Shawn came, I already had a contractor friend inspect the origin of the leak, which was at the north wall near the water heater. The contractor looked inside and beneath the water heater and determined that it must be coming from an outside wall. So, on another friend’s advice, I called U.S. Waterproofing. In fact, they specifically mentioned Shawn and how nice he was.
When Shawn inspected the area, he covered the options and pricing for remedying the situation if the water was coming from outside. The water heater was obscuring the possible entry point. He insisted, over and over, that even though I had the water heater inspected by a general contractor, I should cover myself by getting a plumber out with a definitive answer before I spend money to solve a problem that may not exist. I finally acquiesced and promised to call Shawn to let him know, one way or the other, what the final course of action would be.
A plumber came the next day and it turns out that indeed there was a leak beneath the visible portion of the water heater. I had it replaced and the water problem disappeared.
Without Shawn’s honest approach, in fact, his insistence, I would have approved a costly procedure that would have upset the lives of the tenants, and would have left the real problem unsolved. Many thanks to a fine representative of U.S. Waterproofing and to your company.”
